Postoje Argentiny ve sporu s Velkou Británií o Falklandy

The bachelor thesis deals with the dispute over the Falkland Islands between Great Britain and Argentina and the attitudes of several Argentinian governments in this dispute. The governments of Carlos Menem, Néstor Kirchner, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and Mauricio Macri are selected for comparison. The goal is to find the answer to the question of whether Argentina's attitudes change depending on changes in the presidency or whether the Falkland Islands are a long-term Argentinian national interest. After introducing the theory, which includes the definition of presidential systems, foreign policy and the influence of an individual on foreign policy, the thesis focuses on the historical context of the dispute, ie the discovery and importance of the islands, the Falklands War and the government of Leopoldo Galtieri. This is followed by the comparison of the specific governments, which suggests that the first three Peronist and Nationalist governments use the dispute and capitalize on it, unlike Macri, who cooperates with the UK to resolve the dispute. In conclusion, it is found out that Argentina's attitudes remain unchanged, it still strives for the islands, but the approach to the dispute and to its resolve changes, depending on the government and the president.
