Abstract:
V rámci praktické části byly vyvinuty dvě funkčně identické 2D point-and-click adventury v herním enginu Unity — jedna klasickým způsobem za využití běžně dostupných online zdrojů a komunitních fór, druhá s podporou AI agenta Cursor. U obou přístupů byly systematicky měřeny časy potřebné k implementaci klíčových herních mechanik a výsledný kód obou verzí byl kvalitativně hodnocen třemi nezávislými jazykovými modely. Práce rovněž diskutuje kvalitativní aspekty obou přístupů včetně hodnocení kvality výsledného kódu a zasazuje zjištění do kontextu demokratizačního potenciálu AI nástrojů v herním průmyslu.

Abstract:
The rapid development of artificial intelligence tools in recent years is significantly transforming software development practices, and the game industry is no exception. This bachelor's thesis aims to compare the efficiency of video game development with and without the use of artificial intelligence tools from the perspective of an indie developer, with the primary metric being the time required to implement individual game mechanics. As part of the practical section, two functionally identical 2D point-and-click adventure games were developed in the Unity game engine — one using the classical approach with commonly available online resources and community forums, the other with the support of the AI agent Cursor. For both approaches, the time required to implement key game mechanics was systematically measured, and the resulting code of both versions was qualitatively evaluated by three independent language models. The results show that development with artificial intelligence support was significantly more time-efficient, with the total implementation time reduced by 87%. It also became apparent that a key factor in the successful use of AI is the developer's ability to formulate precise and detailed requirements — imprecise instructions led to errors and subsequent delays that eliminated part of the time savings. The thesis also discusses the qualitative aspects of both approaches, including an evaluation of the resulting code quality, and places the findings in the context of the democratisation potential of AI tools in the game industry.
