| Abstract: | Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá britským rozhodováním během Suezské krize v roce 1956 se zaměřením na roli premiéra Anthonyho Edena a vliv britského velmocenského myšlení na zahraniční politiku Spojeného království. Cílem práce je analyzovat faktory, které vedly britskou vládu k vojenské intervenci proti Egyptu navzdory proměně mezinárodního postavení Spojeného království po druhé světové válce. Teoretickým východiskem práce je realistická teorie mezinárodních vztahů a koncept velmoci. Metodologicky se jedná o kvalitativní jednopřípadovou studii založenou na obsahové analýze odborné literatury, memoárů, parlamentních debat a dobových vládních dokumentů. Empirická část se věnuje britské zahraniční politice po druhé světové válce, osobnosti Anthonyho Edena, průběhu Suezské krize a jejím důsledkům pro Spojené království i mezinárodní systém. |

| Abstract: | This bachelor's thesis examines British decision-making during the 1956 Suez Crisis, focusing on the role of Prime Minister Anthony Eden and the influence of British great power thinking on the foreign policy of the United Kingdom. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the factors that led the British government to undertake a military intervention against Egypt despite the transformation of the United Kingdom's international position after the Second World War. The theoretical framework is based on realist theory of international relations and the concept of great powers. Methodologically, the thesis is based on a qualitative single-case study focused on the content analysis of academic literature, memoirs, parliamentary debates, and contemporary government documents. The empirical part examines British foreign policy after the Second World War, the political role of Anthony Eden, the course of the Suez Crisis, and its consequences for the United Kingdom and the international system. |
