| Abstract: | Práce popisuje historii, strukturu a funkci Eurostatu v Evropské unii. Dále se věnuje databázi Eurostatu a mapuje oblasti, pro které jsou evropská statistická data veřejné dostupná. Hlouběji se zabývá tématem obyvatelstva a jeho zdravotních podmínek a na základě získaných dat z Eurostatu zkoumá pozici České republiky v rámci Evropské unie. |

Furthermore, it deals with the Eurostat database and maps the field for which the European statistical data are publicly available. It also discusses the topic of population and its health conditions in more depth and based on the data obtained from the Eurostat it examines the position of the Czech Republic within the European Union. |
