Abstract:

Abstract:
The aim of this thesis is to analyse and compare selected global equity ETFs and their underlying indices in terms of performance, risk, and replication accuracy. Based on this comparison and a subsequent multi-criteria evaluation that also considers expense ratios, fund size, and fund age, ETFs that may be suitable for long-term investing by retail investors are identified. The first part of the thesis outlines the theoretical aspects of ETFs, the principles of their functioning, index replication methods, their benefits, risks, and historical development. In the second part, ETFs for subsequent analysis are selected based on predetermined criteria, and the indicators used for their comparison are defined. In the final part of the thesis, the individual ETFs and their respective indices are analysed. Based on this analysis, a multi-criteria evaluation is conducted, through which specific funds are identified that appear to be a suitable choice for long-term investing by retail investors.
