| Abstrakt: | This bachelor's thesis deals with the analysis and redesign of the user interface of the MaxStorage internal information system, which is used by MAXIMUM Services s.r.o. for managing rentals, inventory, invoicing, and transport. The system has been developed over a long period of time and contains extensive functionality; however, certain parts of the interface show shortcomings in terms of usability, consistency, and user orientation. The aim of the thesis is to design and create a high-fidelity prototype of a web-based internal information system grounded in UX design principles and verified user needs. The thesis seeks to answer three research questions: what UX principles can be applied in the design of a user-friendly web-based information system; what is the current technical state of the information system of the given organisation, particularly from a UX perspective; and what shortcomings of the current system can be identified based on gathered insights and the analysis of user needs. The methodological framework is the design thinking process structured into five phases. The analysis of the existing system was carried out through a heuristic evaluation based on Nielsen's heuristics, which revealed 40 findings of their violation. The user research included semi-structured interviews with five respondents representing key system roles. The insights were processed using the affinity diagram method. Based on these findings, a high-fidelity prototype was created in Figma and subsequently validated through moderated usability testing supplemented by a SUS questionnaire. The results show that the proposed prototype is perceived as highly usable across all tested roles, with an average SUS score of 89.5. Testing also identified areas for further design iteration. The results of the thesis are limited by the fact that the heuristic evaluation was conducted by a single evaluator, the design thinking process was carried out independently by the author, and the redesign does not cover all modules of the system — it does not include, for example, user management or advanced administration. Usability testing was conducted with five respondents from a single organisation, which limits the generalisability of the results. The output of the thesis can serve as a basis for subsequent technical implementation of the MaxStorage system redesign, with the immediate next step being the incorporation of recommendations and the completion of a second design iteration. |
