Determinanty přestupových cen hráčů Premier League

This bachelor’s thesis focuses on transfers of football players and the factors that influence the size of transfer fees. The aim of this thesis is to identify and analyse the main determinants of transfer fees for players moving to the English Premier League and to evaluate their impact on the final transfer fee using linear regression. The theoretical part defines relevant concepts from the football environment and explains terms related to regression analysis. In the practical part, regression analysis is used to examine the impact of selected factors associated with football players on the transfer fees paid and to determine their statistical significance. The results show that the most significant factors are the remaining length of the player’s contract, the sporting level of the original competition in which the player played, and the player’s age. The discussion also addresses factors that are not quantified within the regression analysis, such as tactical, mental, and health-related aspects.
