This thesis focuses on youth NEET rates in European countries. Based on Eurostat data, it examines the long-term changes, differences between countries, and the relationship between youth NEET rates and major socioeconomic factors. The study uses descriptive comparison, case studies of selected countries, correlation analysis, and descriptive multiple linear regression to compare the youth NEET situation across different periods and national backgrounds. The results show that the youth NEET rate in Europe has generally decreased, but clear differences still exist between countries. Youth NEET can be affected by economic development, labour market conditions, participation in education, and social vulnerability. The relationship between these factors and youth NEET rates may also change under different socioeconomic conditions. Most importantly, youth NEET should not be understood only as an employment problem. It should also be seen as a broader issue that reflects young people’s situation in education, employment, and social inclusion.
Klíčová slova: European Country; Neet rate; Comparative Analysis; Descriptive Regression; Youth Unemployment Rate; log GDP per capita; At-Risk-of-poverty Rate; Early School Leaving
