Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá analýzou projektu polární Hedvábné stezky a posouzením rostoucího vlivu Čínské lidové republiky v arktickém regionu. Za cíl si práce dává odhalit geopolitické faktory a motivace, které Čínu do projektu tlačí, a zhodnotit, jak se v jeho důsledku může proměnit mocenské rozložení sil v oblasti. Teoreticky je práce ukotvena klasickými geopolitickými teoriemi (Mackinder, Mahan, Spykman) a koncepty čínské zahraniční politiky. Metodologicky se jedná o případovou studii s kvalitativní obsahovou analýzou. V empirické části je rozebírána problematika arktického regionu, samotná implementace polární Hedvábné stezky a reakce na ni z pohledu klíčových hráčů (Rusko, USA, EU).

Abstrakt:
This bachelor's thesis analyzes the Polar Silk Road project and evaluates the growing influence of the People's Republic of China in the Arctic region. The objective of the thesis is to identify the geopolitical factors and motivations driving China into the project, and to determine how the regional balance of power may shift as a result. Theoretically, the thesis is anchored in classical geopolitical theories (Mackinder, Mahan, Spykman) and concepts of Chinese foreign policy. Methodologically, it is designed as a case study utilizing qualitative content analysis. The empirical section examines the issues surrounding the Arctic region, the actual implementation of the Polar Silk Road, and the reactions of key players (Russia, the USA, the EU). The thesis concludes that although the project's relevance is rather declining, interest in the Arctic region will continue to grow in the long term.
