Teoretická kapitola představuje tři hlavní pilíře: Leeovu teorii push-pull faktorů migrace, Wiktorowiczův rámec islamistické radikalizace a Rotbergovu teorii selhávajícího státu, doplněné o koncept sekuritizace migrace. Empirická část zahrnuje politicko-historický kontext Nigérie, vznik a vývoj Boko Haram, kvantitativní analýzu migrace na základě dat IOM DTM a přeshraniční bezpečnostní dopady krize v regionu povodí Čadského jezera.

This thesis analyzes the relationship between the terrorist activities of the Boko Haram movement, the failure of the Nigerian state, and forced migration from 2009 to 2024. The thesis employs a single-case study methodology combining qualitative and quantitative analysis. The theoretical chapter presents three main pillars: Lee’s theory of push-pull factors in migration, Wiktorowicz’s framework of Islamist radicalization, and Rotberg’s theory of the failing state, expanded by the concept of the securitization of migration. The empirical section covers the political and historical context of Nigeria, the emergence and evolution of Boko Haram, a quantitative analysis of migration based on IOM DTM data, and the cross-border security implications of the crisis in the Lake Chad Basin region. The concluding synthesis summarizes the findings of the case study in the context of the selected theoretical approaches and evaluates the extent to which the empirical data correspond with the assumptions of the theories, where they deviate from them, and what implications this has for understanding the phenomenon under study. The thesis concludes the analytical cycle of answers to both research questions while also reflecting on the limitations of the chosen approach.
