Egypt, as a country with a rich history and culture, has been undergoing significant social and economic changes in the last decade, which also significantly affect its educational system. The aim of this thesis is to identify and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats faced by the education system in the modern Arab Republic of Egypt, taking into account the historical development, social and economic specifics at the primary and secondary levels. In achieving this goal, we used the SWOT Analysis. The Egyptian education system has weaknesses in the form of overcrowded classrooms, uneven access to education, insufficient financing of education and centralization of power. These weaknesses are reflected in the insufficient results in the international testing of students. However, a strong point is compulsory school attendance, which is defined by the Constitution, and the growth of the literacy rate. The government has the opportunity to use modern technologies or international aid to achieve its goals in the field of education, but at the same time it must be cautious in case of rapid population growth or consequences after the COVID-19 pandemic, which could have an impact on the already high rate of youth unemployment in Egypt. |
