The theoretical part deals with the comparison of road and rail transport primarily in terms of infrastructure costs. Furthermore, the model of rail discounting in Austria is characterised, which is then used to analyse the hypothesis. The practical part deals with the aforementioned business case analysis, the determination of critical points within the current model and the related design of a new model. The thesis concludes by evaluating the research question and proving or disproving the hypothesis, followed by an overall summary of the issues under investigation within the rail transport. |
