Abundance of native brown trout has been declining in recent years across the Czech Republic. This dissertation focuses on the factors potentially related to this negative trend, in the fishing grounds of a fishing association. Results show that fishing pressure is the most important factor in the decline of trout populations, followed by drought caused by climate change. There is a clear need for changes in current fisheries management practices using new sustainable development scenarios to protect and improve conditions for natural trout stocks. The issue of trout fishing in the Czech Republic has been addressed using three scenarios. The research was carried out in two phases, qualitative and quantitative. The results of the qualitative analysis narrowed the issue to the anglers union only. A quantitative survey among anglers confirmed the preference for a restructuring scenario with state intervention.
