Abstract:
The rapid rise of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) has transformed workplace dynamics, introducing both unprecedented opportunities for productivity and significant challenges for governance and data security. As employees increasingly adopt external AI tools to enhance efficiency, a new phenomenon, Shadow AI, has emerged, defined as the unsanctioned use of AI systems, models, or APIs outside organizational oversight. Drawing upon the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Principal–Agent Theory (PAT), this thesis develops and empirically tests an integrated model explaining why employees engage in Shadow AI and how differing perceptions of risk influence this behavior. Five hypotheses (H1–H5) are proposed: that Perceived Usefulness (PU) and Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU) drive Shadow AI adoption; that perceived disparities between sanctioned and external tools amplify use; that risk perceptions differ systematically between IT and non-IT roles; and that Perceived Risk moderates the link between PU and behavioral intention. The research employs a quantitative survey of organizational employees to quantify these relationships, operationalizing the Risk Perception Gap (H4) as a measurable indicator of the principal–agent problem. The findings aim to contribute both theoretically and practically: by integrating behavioral and structural theories of technology adoption, the study explains how individual-level innovation behavior interacts with organizational risk asymmetries. The results are intended to inform the design of adaptive AI governance frameworks—balancing innovation incentives with the need for robust compliance, transparency, and data protection.

Abstract:
Rychlý rozvoj generativní umělé inteligence (GenAI) zásadně proměnil dynamiku pracovního prostředí, přinášející bezprecedentní příležitosti ke zvýšení produktivity, ale zároveň i významné výzvy v oblasti řízení, bezpečnosti a ochrany dat.
