Web Map Application for Recording and Managing Interesting Locations

This bachelor thesis deals with the design, implementation, and evaluation of a web map application for the personal management of photographically interesting objects and places. The thesis identifies the limitations of common map services in the systematic management of custom attributes, filtering, photo management, and visual differentiation of saved locations. Based on these requirements, a functional web application was developed that enables user registration and authentication, location creation, editing, categorization, filtering and deletion, photo assignment, and direct interaction with locations in an interactive map. The frontend of the application was implemented using Vue.js and the Leaflet library, while the backend consists of a REST API developed with the Flask framework. Spatial data are stored in a PostgreSQL database with the PostGIS extension. The thesis also includes the design of the application architecture, database model, and user interface. The resulting application was evaluated through automated and manual testing, which confirmed the functionality of the main user scenarios. The outcome of the thesis is a specialized solution that provides clearer and more structured management of photographic locations than general-purpose map services.
