Disease management and integration of technologies in long-term inpatient care for people with Alzheimer's disease

The dissertation deals with the disease management of Alzheimer's disease with a focus on the use of technologies in social long-term inpatient care facilities. The aim of the thesis is to propose a conceptual model for integrating technologies into disease management programs in social long-term inpatient care facilities for people with Alzheimer's disease. The thesis is divided into individual sub-objectives, dealing with the specification of the current model of disease management of Alzheimer's disease, identification of technologies available for social long-term inpatient care, integration of technologies into existing work processes of providing social and health care in social facilities, and implementation of the created conceptual frameworks into real practice. The thesis responds to the identified research gap in the absence of disease management programs and models of technology integration in the care of people with Alzheimer's disease, which is becoming more significant every day with the ever-increasing prevalence of the target disease. The research framework uses data triangulation and the triangulation of qualitative and quantitative approaches. The research results brought a conceptual framework for Alzheimer's disease management models with elements of technology integration into specialized long-term inpatient care, including identifying the impact of technology on work processes and identifying challenges and opportunities for implementing technology into long-term inpatient care social facilities.
