| Abstract: | Tématem práce jsou vztahy Turecka a Evropské unie. Popsán je i vývoj vzájemných vztahů s předchůdci Evropské unie a to od podání první přihlášky Turecka ke vstupu do Evropského hospodářského společenství v roce 1963. Těžištěm je však období posledních deseti let s přihlédnutím k vývoji hospodářské a politické situace v Turecku. Zahrnuty jsou také názory obou zúčastněných stran - občanů Turecka i Evropské unie. Práce se dále zaměřuje na pravděpodobné přínosy i potenciální rizika plynoucí z rozšíření jak pro Evropskou unii, tak pro Turecko. Mezi zmíněné oblasti patří kultura, turecké hospodářství, ale i bezpečnostně-strategická pozice Turecka. V poslední kapitole je popsán spor Turecka s Řeky o Kypr a také vývoj postavení kurdského obyvatelstva na jihovýchodě a východě země. |

| Abstract: | In the main part of the thesis is described the relationship between Turkey and the EU. Also the evolution of the relationship with the beginning in the 1960s is analyzed with consequences of the potential enlargement for both, the Turkey and the EU. Nevertheless, the basic time period is the last decade with an outlook for the first years of the potential Turkish membership in the EU. Not only culture but also attitude of European citizens and Turcs to the membership or Turkish economy and its geographic location play an important role in the process of enlargement. Potential pros and contras are followed by the analysis of the dispute over Cyprus with Greece and the question of Kurdish people in Turkey. |
