| Abstract: | Práce se zabývá ekonomickým vývojem Zimbabwe od vyhlášení její nezávislosti v roce 1980 až do současnosti. Je rozdělena do jednotlivých dekád, ve kterých se vyjadřuje k ekonomickým i mimoekonomickým faktorům, jež Zimbabwe ovlivnily. Současně vysvětluje dopad těchto faktorů na ekonomiku i životní úroveň v Zimbabwe. Nezávislá Zimbabwe měla na počátku své existence dobré předpoklady pro budoucí vývoj. V průběhu let přijala zimbabwská vláda různá opatření a rozhodnutí, která určila následující vývoj v této zemi. Současně na tento vývoj působily další faktory. Podstatný byl problém sociálního dualismu ve společnosti, který nebyl vyřešen až do roku 2000. S cílem odstranit dualismus byla započata v roce 2000 pozemková reforma mající však katastrofální dopad na Zimbabwe. Další významný faktor, který se v práci rozebírá, je například Program strukturální ekonomické adaptace z 90. let. Práce se také zaměřuje na makroekonomické ukazatele, které se v průběhu let zhoršovaly a vysvětluje, co jejich propad zapříčinilo. Celá práce ukazuje důvody, které způsobily, že se země s kdysi tak dobrým postavením v rámci států subsaharské Afriky mohla propadnout do bídné situace, ve které se nachází dnes. |

| Abstract: | The thesis is concerned with the economic development of Zimbabwe from its proclamation of independence in the year 1980 to the present. It is divided into single decades where it expresses economical and non-economical factors which influenced Zimbabwe. At the same time it is explaining the impact of these factors on the economy and standards of living. At the beginning of its independence Zimbabwe had good conditions for its future development. Through the years the Zimbabwean government has taken several measures and adopted some decisions, which determined the future development of this country. At the same time there were other factors which influenced the development of Zimbabwe. Essential was the issue of social dualism in the society, which was not settled until the year 2000. In 2000 land reform was started in order to remove the dualism, but it had a catastrophic impact on Zimbabwe. Another important factor analyzed in this thesis is for example the Economic Structural Adjustment Program from the 90ties. The thesis is also focused on macroeconomic indicators that fall behind through the years and it explains the reason for their downfall. The whole thesis shows the reasons that made once a country with a good position compared to other countries of Sub-Saharan Africa to a country facing miserable conditions today. |
