| Abstract: | Hlavním úkolem mé bakalářské práce je prozkoumat vztah mezi vězněnými a dozorci v Terezíně. Vzhledem ke složité hierarchii dozorců v terezínském ghettu se zaměřím především na četníky, kteří byli s vězni v každodenním kontaktu. Byly podmínky "obyvatel" ghetta bez výjimky opravdu tak drastické nebo existoval někdo, kdo jim byl ochoten pomáhat? Proč muselo tolik lidí zemřít, zatímco jiných se táborová pravidla příliš nedotkla nebo jen minimálně? Klíčovou úlohu v rozdílných životních podmínkách pro Nucené společenství, jak terezínské vězně nazývá H. G. Adler, sehráli právě četníci, kteří se stanou spolu s vězněnými dominantou mé práce. Jako významný zdroj informací použiji výpovědi pamětníků holocaustu uložené v Židovském muzeu v Praze, dále se ve své práci budu opírat o vydané prameny a nejnovější odbornou literaturu. |

| Abstract: | The main task of this thesis is to explore the relationship between the prisoners and the guards at Theresienstadt. Given the complexity of the Therezin ghetto guards hierarchy -- and in order to aim at the very hub of this problematic question -- this paper will focus primarily on the gendarmes, who were in everyday contact with the prisoners. Were conditions of the forced occupants of the given ghetto so dramatic without any exceptions -- or -- was there at least anyone willing to help them? Why were some prisones being ill-treated and brutally murdered while others were being priviledged? The key role in the different living conditions of the "Forced communities" (as H. G. Adler often calls them) played the relationships between gendarmes and the prisoners -- that is why these two "social roles" are the dominant feature of this paper. The Holocaust witnesses evidence stored in the Jewish Museum in Prague and the published origins and the latest sources of literature were used as some of the primary sources. |
