Abstract: | This bachelor thesis deals with the role of the media during humanitarian crisis. Concretely, it concerns the case study of Sri Lankan conflict and the influence of so-called CNN effect. The aim of this bachelor thesis is either to confirm or dis-confirm the connection between the media and actions of the american and british governments over Sri Lanka's conflict in the beginning of year 2009. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part is only introductory. The second part is devoted to CNN effect itself. This chapter describes the evolution of the theoretical concept of CNN effect, definition and the summary of the literature about it.
