| Abstract: | Tato práce pojednává o vztahu Velké Británie a "Evropy". Zaměřila jsem se na období od konce druhé světové války až po současnost. Hlavní cílem této práce je analyzovat postavení Velké Británie v rámci integračního procesu v Evropě. Dále je mým cílem objasnit přístup Velké Británie ke společné měně euro, zhodnotit jak si Velká Británie stojí v plnění pěti ekonomických testů Gordona Browna a odpovědět na otázku, zda existuje reálná možnost, že Británie přijme euro v blízké budoucnosti. V první části zmiňuji základní ekonomické i politické podmínky, které do velké míry ovlivnily pozdější politiku Británie v "Evropě". Ve druhé kapitole této práce se blíže věnuji samotnému zapojování Velké Británie do integračního procesu. Třetí kapitola je pak věnována otázce eura. |

| Abstract: | This essay focuses on relationship between Great Britain and "Europe". The essay covers period from late forties when the integration began to develop, to the present. The main aim is to analyze Great Britain's stance towards european integration and common currency -- the euro. The secondary objective is to evaluate five economic tests assessed by former Chancellor of the Exchequer and answer the question regarding prospects of Britain to adopt the euro in the near future. The first part deals with key economic and political conditions in Great Britain after the Second World War. The second part describes performance of Great Britain within the European Communities and the last part is devoted to the "euro" issue. |
