| Abstract: | Předkládaná diplomová práce se zabývá tématem cestovního ruchu v Evropské unii s důrazem na jeho ekonomický význam, rozmístění a současné trendy, které je možné v tomto odvětví identifikovat. Jejím cílem je zhodnotit problematiku cestovního ruchu v EU z jiného úhlu pohledu, než jaký je obvyklý v odborné literatuře věnující se tomuto tématu, a snažit se nalézt odpovědi na několik otázek, mj. zda je ekonomický význam cestovního ruchu v rámci EU opravdu tak velký, jak je tomuto odvětví často přisuzováno, nebo jak je cestovní ruch v EU rozmístěn. Základem pro zodpovězení těchto a dalších otázek je analýza řady ukazatelů v období posledních dvou dekád. Z hlediska současných trendů v oblasti cestovního ruchu je pozornost věnována jednak trendům na straně poptávky a nabídky, a jednak problematice udržitelného rozvoje cestovního ruchu. |

| Abstract: | The presented thesis deals with the issue of tourism in the European Union with emphasis on its economic importance, deployment and current trends that can be identified in this sector. Its aim is to assess the issue of tourism in the EU from a different perspective than it is usual in the literature devoted to this topic, and try to find answers to several questions, including whether the economic importance of tourism is really as great within the EU as it is often attributed to this sector, or how tourism is deployed in the EU. The basis for answering these and other questions is the analysis of a number of indicators over the last two decades. In terms of current trends in tourism, attention is paid to trends in demand and supply and the issue of sustainable tourism development. |
