| Abstract: | V souvislosti s vývojem v eurozóně v posledních letech je jasné, že je současný stav dlouhodobě neudržitelný a je zapotřebí provést určitá opatření, která by zajistila její fungování i do budoucna. Cílem této práce je nalézt nejvhodnější východisko pro Evropskou unii jako celek. Práce představuje a porovnává tři nejpravděpodobnější scénáře budoucího vývoje. Pro lepší pochopení problematiky je obsažen stručný přehled vývoje evropské integrace, dále je vysvětlen pojem optimální měnová oblast a především kritéria, která by měla taková oblast splňovat, a na příkladech dalších měnových unií jsou uvedeny možné hrozby, kterým mohou měnové unie čelit. |

| Abstract: | In context of recent development in the euro area it is obvious that the status quo is unsustainable and it is necessary to execute certain measures which would ensure its functioning in the future. The aim of this thesis is to find out the most appropriate solution for the European Union as a whole. Thesis presents and compares the three most likely scenarios for future development. A brief overview of the development of European integration, the concept of optimum currency area with the criteria for its better functioning and examples of other monetary unions with the threats they could possibly face are included for better understanding of the issue. |
