| Abstract: | Oblast Jihočínského moře a příslušných průlivů nabývá čím dál většího celosvětového významu zejména díky rušným komunikačním cestám pro mezinárodní obchod, nerostnému bohatství a rybolovu. Tyto pozitivní aspekty sem přitahují na jednu stranu zájem mnoha aktérů a na druhou stranu i velké množství bezpečnostních hrozeb - mezinárodní organizovaný zločin, teritoriální spory a zhoršování životního prostředí. Cílem práce je analyzovat dosavadní námořně bezpečnostní aktivity ASEAN a zhodnotit jeho úlohu v námořní bezpečnosti Jihočínského moře za pomocí metod případové studie, deskripce, vědeckého popisu a analýzy primárních pramenů a dokumentů a odborných posudků. Hlavním zjištěním této práce je, že ASEAN zastává velmi klíčovou roli v námořní bezpečnosti Jihočínského moře a svou iniciativou může určovat budoucí průběh regionální bezpečnostní spolupráce. |

| Abstract: | The region of South China Sea and surrounding straits gains more and more significance at the global level due to its importance for the maritime transport, mineral resources and fishery. Those positive aspects attract many concerns of various powers on one hand and at the same time many security threats on the other -- e.g. transnational organised crime, territorial disputes and environmental degradation. The objective of this thesis is to analyse actual activities of ASEAN and evaluate its role in the maritime security of South China Sea using the methods of case study, description and analysis of the primary sources, documents and expert opinions. The main finding of this study is the very key role of ASEAN in the maritime security of South China Sea which allows him to determine the future course of regional security cooperation. |
