| Abstract: | Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá rolí jednotlivce v zahraniční a bezpečnostní politice státu, konkrétně bývalého ministra obrany Spojených států amerických Donalda Rumsfelda v administrativě 43. prezidenta George Walkera Bushe. Práce je rozdělena do tří kapitol. První kapitola analyzuje roli jednotlivce v rozhodování a o vnitřních a vnějších faktorech, které na něj působí a ovlivňují ho. Druhá kapitola je soustředěna na období 2001-2006, které bylo plné významných rozhodnutí a kroků mající vážné důsledky nejen pro USA, ale i pro mezinárodní bezpečnostní vztahy na globální úrovni. Třetí kapitola se zabývá samotným Donaldem Rumsfeldem, který hrál klíčovou roli v zahraniční a bezpečnostní politice USA. Analyzuje jeho život a druhé funkční období (2001-2006). Dále je soustředěna pozornost na jeho roli ve dvou amerických vojenských operacích v Afghánistánu a Iráku. V závěru je provedena analýza vnitřních a vnějších faktorů ovlivňujících rozhodnutí Donalda Rumsfelda. |

| Abstract: | This thesis explores the role of individuals in foreign and security policy of the state namely former US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld in administration of the 43rd US President George Walker Bush. The work is divided into three chapters. The first chapter discusses the role of individuals in decision-making and internal and external factors on an individual which affect him. The second chapter analyzes time period 2001-2006, which was full of important decisions and actions having serious consequences not only for the United States, but also for international security relations at the global level. The third chapter deals with Donald Rumsfeld, who played a key role in foreign and security policy of the United States. His life, political career, especially his second term as a Secretary of Defense (2001-2006) are analyzed in this chapter. Then the focus is on his role in two US military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. In the end of this chapter is an analysis of internal and external factors affecting the decisions of Donald Rumsfeld. |
