| Abstract: | Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou trestu smrti z pohledu historicko-právního a ekonomického, a to jak v zahraničí, tak v České republice. Předkládá aktuální obrázek o využívání trestu smrti ve vybraných státech a mapuje názor české veřejnosti na problematiku absolutního trestu. Součástí je také nákladová analýza trestu smrti.
Práce se skládá jednak z teoretické, jednak z praktické části. Teoretická část představuje právní kontext trestu smrti a jeho historický vývoj v zahraničí i na našem území. S praktickou částí je propojena analýzou názorů zastánců a odpůrců trestu smrti. Praktická část obsahuje jednak komparativní analýzu vybraných států (Spojených států amerických, Čínské lidové republiky a Běloruské republiky), jednak nákladovou analýzu trestu smrti a dotazníkové šetření zaměřené na postoj české veřejnosti k trestu smrti. Práce potvrdila tezi ekonomické výhodnosti trestu smrti v porovnání s trestem doživotního odnětí svobody a z výsledků dotazníkového šetření dále vyplynul souhlas české veřejnosti s trestem smrti. |

| Abstract: | This dissertation deals with the issue of the death penalty from the historical, legal and economic point of view both abroad and in the Czech Republic. It provides a current picture of the use of the death penalty in the selected countries and maps how Czechs view capital punishment. A cost analysis of the death penalty is also included.
The dissertation consists of two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part introduces the legal context of the death penalty and its historical development abroad as well as in our land. It is linked with the practical part by an opinion analysis of those in favor and against capital punishment. The practical part contains a comparative analysis of the selected countries (the USA, the People's Republic of China, the Republic of Belarus), a cost analysis of the death penalty and, finally, a questionnaire examining the attitudes of the Czech public towards capital punishment. The dissertation has confirmed the economic benefits of the death penalty in comparison with life in prison as well as the consent of the Czech public to the use of the death penalty. |
