Financial crisis and the sate aid to the financial institutions of Ireland and Spain between 2008 and 2015

Abstrakt This thesis focuses on the issue of a bailout and associated costs. The aim is to analyze the costs / benefits associated with the rescue of the Irish and Spanish financial institutions in the period 2008 to 2015. There is not comparison to only accounting costs / revenues, but also the cost / benefit of the alternative use of funds. The operational objective is to determine whether the Irish and Spanish banks exploit the potential reclassification of its assets, which will only reduce book losses, but actual loss will remain. This thesis was a partialy confirmed in the case of Ireland. In the practical part are analyzed the roots of the crisis and the steps taken by the EU as to improve the situation. This analysis shows that it was necessary to create a brand new rescue mechanisms and cancel the "no bailout" clause which shifted this help to to illegality. Analysis are further subjected to the financial and opportunity costs / income from rescuing financial institutions. Results of the analysis are discussed, which shows that Spanish yields of help were higher than the costs associated with the rescue. In the case of Ireland, the costs outweigh of revenue.
