| Abstract: | Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá integračním procesem v západní Evropě v letech 1945-1961 a analyzuje faktory, které ovlivnily názor britské vlády na členství v Evropském hospodářském společenství. Věnuje se politickému vývoji v Evropě a hospodářské situaci ve Velké Británii v druhé polovině čtyřicátých let a následně v padesátých letech, kdy došlo k jedněm z prvních náznaků britské neochoty být součástí nadnárodních společenství. Dále vysvětluje důvody úpadku politického a ekonomického vlivu Velké Británie ve světě. Rozebírá vztahy se Spojenými státy americkými a Sovětským svazem a není opomenuto ani Evropské společenství volného obchodu, jakožto britský prostředek k vyjednávání se členy EHS. |

| Abstract: | This thesis deals with integration process in Western Europe between years 1945-1961 and analyses factors which affected the opinion of British government on the membership in European Economic Community. It is focused on political development in Europe and economic situation in Great Britain in the second half of the forties and in the fifties. This was also a period when first evidence of British unwillingness to participate in supranational communities occurred. Next the reasons of decline of political and economic influence of Great Britain are explained. It analyses relationship with United States of America and Soviet Union, and there is also mentioned European Free Trade Association as the British instrument of negotiations with the members of EEC. |
