China’s growing active role in the world economy

China progressively became the leading trading nation among the developing countries and the second largest recipient of FDI. The challenges created by China's rapid growth and trade expansion are both impacting on the domestic and international aspect. Therefore, at the time of a debt crisis of the major economies, it is the right time to evaluate China as a potential outward trade leader. The purpose of this thesis is then to assess the current trade position of China within the world economy and to suggest recommendations for China to sustain their growing role on the international scene. The thesis provide the patterns China's economic development as well as the trade policies and reforms introduced by the Chinese government, an analysis of the size and composition of China's Inward/Outward Foreign Direct Investment and the Macroeconomic recommendations for the long-term perspective.
