| Abstract: | Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá relačními databázovými systémy. V této práci si kladu za cíl porovnání dvou vybraných databázových systémů: jednoho komerčního řešení a jednoho sytému Open Source dle kritérií, která jsou zaměřena na jejich správu.
První část práce poskytuje teoretický základ týkající se databázových systémů (součástí bude i detailnější popis relačního principu) a typů licencí pod kterými může být software vydán. Hlavním cílem této části je vytvoření dostatečného teoretického základu pro pochopení zbytku práce.
Další část se zaměřuje na vymezení pojmů databázová administrace a rozdílu mezi pojmy správa dat a správa databáze. Následuje analýza úloh vykonávaných databázovým administrátorem a popis jednotlivých úloh. Jedním z cílů kapitoly je položit východiska pro srovnávací studii, která je hlavním cílem mé bakalářské práce.
Následuje výběr jednoho Open Source a jednoho komerčního relačního databázového systému. V dané častí také krátce uvedu, jak probíhal vývoj vybraných systémů od vzniku do současnosti a popíši jejích architekturu. Nakonec je provedeno zhodnocení získaných poznatků a srovnány produkty.
Jako hlavní přínos mojí práce vidím v analýze úloh, vykovávaných databázovým administrátorem a porovnání, jak jednotlivé systémy pomáhají tyto úlohy zjednodušit. |

| Abstract: | This thesis focuses on relational database systems. The main goal of this thesis is to compare two selected database systems - one commercial and one Open Source, which will be compared using criteria, focused on the database administration.
The first part provides a theoretical basis concerning the database systems (it will also include a description of the relational principle) and types of licenses under which the software may be issued. The main objective of this section is to create a sufficient theoretical basis for understanding the rest of the paper.
The next section explains term database administration and shows the difference between the terms data management and database management. Next follows the analysis of the tasks performed by the database administrator and a description of each task. This part is fundamental for the rest of the thesis, because it will be used as a basis for a comparison.
In the next section one Open Source and one commercial relational database system will be chosen. In the part I will also briefly describe the history of each system and their architecture. At the end the two systems are compared.
The main asset of this thesis I see in analysis of database administrator tasks and comparison of how different systems help simplify these tasks. |
