| Abstract: | Práce analyzuje proces vstupu Estonka do měnové unie a efekt zavedení eura v Estonsku na výkon ekonomiky. Pomocí Synthetic Control metody bylo zjištěno, že po zavedení eura nemůžeme pozorovat žádnou významnou změnu ve výkonnosti estonské ekonomiky (tyto výsledky jsou robustní i proti použitým placebo testům). To může být dáno faktem, že estonská měna byla již dříve vázána na euro fixním měnovým kurzem. Výsledky tedy naznačují, že režim měnového kurzu mezi původní a nově zaváděnou měnou by mohl ovlivňovat intenzitu efektu přístupu do měnové unie a je to tudíž faktor, který je třeba brát v potaz při rozhodování o vstupu do eurozóny. |

| Abstract: | This thesis analyses the process of euro adoption in Estonia. I used Synthetic Control Method in order to estimate the effect of euro adoption on the performance of the economy. I found that euro adoption has no significant effect on the performance of the Estonian economy (results are robust to Placebo tests). This is likely to be explained by the fact that former Estonian currency was in the regime of fixed exchange rate against euro. These results indicate that the exchange rate regime between previous and new currency may affect the outcome of the monetary-union entry process. |
