| Abstract: | Cílem této práce je zanalyzování a vyhodnocení dilematu nezávislých ředitelů ve správních orgánech a jejich vliv na finanční výkonnost podniků pomocí meta-analytických technik. Pro porozumění problematiky je prvně provedena systematická rešerše literatury na téma správy společnosti a nezávislých ředitelů. Následně byla provedena meta-analýza na vzorku 38 studií. Finanční výkonnost byla měřena ukazateli účetními a tržními. Výsledkem byl statistický nevýznamný vztah, kvůli vysoké p-value. Následné analýzy citlivosti a publikačního zkreslení poukázaly na stabilitu velikosti účinku. V diskuzi jsou pak diskutovány jednotlivé omezení výzkumu. |

| Abstract: | The goal of this paper is analysis and assesment on the presence of independent directors in boards of directors and their effect on financial performance of a company by meta-analysis. First there is an systematic literature research about basic principles of corporate governance and independent directors. Afterwards, the meta-analysis is done on 38 studies. Financial performance was measured by accounting and market indicators. The result was statisticaly insignificant with Pearson correlation coefficient r = 0.018 and high p-value. Following sensitivity analysis and publication bias analysis showed that our effect size was stable. Finally, I discuissed posible limitations of the research. |
