| Abstract: | Tato práce zkoumá vliv pořádání Zimních olympijských her ve Vancouveru v roce 2010 na zaměstnanost a mzdy v Britské Kolumbii. Ke zkoumání jsou použity modely Differences-in-differences ze studie Hotchkiss, Moore a Zobay (2003). Vlivy byly zkoumány na čtvrtletních datech od roku 2002 do roku 2014. Modely byly odhadnuty pomocí Metody nejmenších čtverců (OLS). Z výsledků je patrné, že pořádání Zimních olympijských her mělo jen minimální vliv na zaměstnanost a mzdy v Britské Kolumbii. U mezd byl tento vliv dokonce negativní. Nepodařilo se ani prokázat vliv na tempo růstu zaměstnanosti, jelikož koeficient odhadu vyšel jako statisticky nevýznamný. Nebylo ani potvrzeno to, že by pořádání Zimních olympijských her mělo pozitivní vliv na metropolitní oblast Vancouver oproti ostatním oblastem v Kanadě. |

| Abstract: | This thesis tries to determine the impact of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games on employment and wages in British Columbia using models with Differences-in-differences technique from Hotchkiss, Moore a Zobay (2003). The impact is studied on quarterly data from 2002 to 2014. Those models are estimated by OLS regression analysis. Results determine insignificant positive impact of 2010 Winter Olympic Games on employment and insignificant negative impact on wages. The estimation do not approve any effect on the growth rate of employment because the coefficient is not statistically significant. In addition, the positive impact of 2010 Olympic Games on the metropolitan area of Vancouver is not approved compared to the other similar metropolitan areas in Canada. |
