Abstract: | Game theory describes the prisoner's dilemma game in which players decide whether to testify against other players. Even though the players are rewarded in case they don’t testify, they will do so. In a real life, however, we encounter more situations, when people meet repeatedly. Moreover, there are often not only individuals but whole groups negotiating. The aim of this diploma thesis is to design an experiment simulating these real situations. The experiment was performed three times. I have provided everything including background, participants and also their motivation in a form of reward. Before the experiment, assumptions were made on how players and groups of players could behave during the game, and these assumptions were analysed after finishing the experiments. It turned out that the players do not behave completely rationally and in some cases they behave even in a way which doesn't pay off, because emotions are for them more important than rationality. Most of the groups didn’t even achieve a part of the reward. |
