| Abstract: | The aim of this master thesis is, firstly to analyse the potentials of four different scenarios of nuclear and radiological terrorism, secondly to assess which countries are the most vulnerable to any of those scenarios and thirdly to indicate steps necessary to diminish the risks emanating from such threat. The four scenarios encompass a seizure of an intact nuclear weapon, theft of weapon-usable material and construction of an improvised nuclear device, theft of radiological material and construction of a ‘dirty bomb’ or simple dispersion of radioactive sources and sabotage of a nuclear installation. This master thesis also includes a case study dedicated to the analysis of whether the so-called Islamic State poses a nuclear threat for the world. |

| Abstract: | Cieľom tejto diplomovej práce je po prvé, zanalyzovať štyri rozličné scenáre možného jadrového alebo rádiologického útoku teroristickej skupiny, po druhé zhodnotiť, ktoré krajiny sú tie najzraniteľnejšie voči jednotlivým scenárom a po tretie uviesť kroky potrebné na zníženie rizika vyplývajúceho z tohto typu hrozby. Dané štyri scenáre zahŕňajú nelegálny zisk neporušenej jadrovej zbrane, krádež štiepneho materiálu a zhotovenie improvizovaného jadrového zariadenia, krádež rádiologického materiálu a zhotovenie „špinavej bomby" alebo rozptýlenie rádiologického materiálu do okolia a sabotáž jadrového zariadenia. Táto diplomová práca taktiež obsahuje prípadovú štúdiu zameranú na tzv. Islamský štát a otázku, či táto teroristická skupina môže pre svet predstavovať jadrovú hrozbu. |
