| Abstract: | Hlavním cílem této diplomové práce je vytvoření analytické aplikace v nástroji Power BI, která se zabývá sportovními, respektive basketbalovými statistikami z basketbalové ligy NBA. K vytvoření aplikace je nutné načerpat teoretické znalosti z oblastí vizualizace dat a basketbalové analytiky. Dále je pro vytvoření aplikace nutné vytvořit malé Business Intelligence řešení, které získává, transformuje a ukládá data do datového skladu, odkud data následně čerpá zmíněná aplikace.V teoretické části jsou popsány principy vizuálního vnímání, nejlepší a nejhorší praktiky v oblasti vizualizace dat a v oblasti dashboardů. Zároveň jsou v teoretické části popsány výchozí koncepty basketbalové analýzy a je poskytnut vhled do basketbalových statistik.V praktické části je analyzován současný stav analytických aplikací v oblasti basketbalu, jsou iden-tifikovány požadavky na aplikaci a jsou analyzována dostupná data, využitelná pro řešení. Následu-je návrh a implementace architektury BI řešení a ETL procesu v nástrojích společnosti Microsoft. Dále je v rámci aplikace navrženo a implementováno několik dashboardů podle zásad efektivní vizualizace dat.Všechny hlavní i vedlejší cíle stanovené na začátku vypracování této práce byly dosaženy a vznikla aplikace v nástroji Power BI, v níž je možné provádět analýzy basketbalových statistik. Hlavní přínos práce spočívá v poskytnutí specifického pohledu na to, jak je možné data z NBA získávat, zpracovávat, ukládat, analyzovat, a především prezentovat s cílem usnadnit jejich porozumění. |

| Abstract: | The main aim of this diploma thesis is to create an analytical application in the Power BI tool which deals with sports data. Specifically, with basketball statistics from basketball league called NBA. To develop such an application, it is necessary to acquire theoretical knowledge from data visualization and basketball analysis. It is also crucial to create a small Business Intelligence solution that acquires the data from data source, transforms them and saves them to the data warehouse from where the data are drawn by the applications created in Power BI.The first theoretical part of the thesis describes principles of visual perception, the best and worst practices in the fields of data visualization and dashboards. The second theoretical part describes basic concepts of basketball analysis and offers an insight into basketball statistics.The practical part identifies the current state of analytical applications in the field of basketball, describes application requirements, and analyzes required available data. The next part deals with design and implementation of BI solution architecture and the ETL process in Microsoft tools. In addition, dashboards that were designed and implemented according to the principles of effective data visualization are presented.In conclusion, all major and minor goals, set in the beginning, have been achieved. An application, which enables basketball statistics to be analyzed, has been developed in the Power BI tool. One of the main benefits of this work is to provide a concrete insight into obtaining, processing, storing, analyzing, and presenting basketball data to facilitate their understanding. |
