| Abstract: | Diplomová práce se zabývá pacifikačními programy ve favelách Rio de Janeira. Věnuje se problematice kriminality a násilí, respektive opatřením, která se proti kriminalitě a násilí uplatňovala. Podrobnější analýze podléhá Policejní pacifikační program „UPP“ (Unidade de Polícia Pacificadora). Cílem práce je zhodnotit dopad Policejního pacifikačního programu UPP na bezpečnostní situaci ve favelách Rio de Janeira. Bezpečností situace je hodnocena pomocí analýzy indikátorů kriminality a násilí a syntézy průzkumů vnímání. Mezi závěry práce patří, že Pacifikační program UPP byl úspěšný v redukci násilí, které vede k úmrtí oběti, s tím související redukci ozbrojených konfliktů v ulicích a moci kriminálních skupin. Vedlejší dopad programu je zlepšení vnímání policie obyvateli pacifikovaných favel. |

| Abstract: | The thesis deals with the pacification programs in favelas of Rio de Janeiro. It deals with the issue of crime and violence, more precisely measures that have been applied against crime and violence. Police Pacification Program “UPP” (Unidade de Polícia Pacificadora) is the subject of a more detailed analysis. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the impact of the Police Pacification Program UPP on the security situation in Rio de Janeiro. The security situation is evaluated through the analysis of crime and violence indicators and the synthesis of perception surveys. The conclusions include the success of the UPP pacification program in reducing the lethal crime with the related reduction of armed conflicts in the streets and the power of criminal groups. The secondary impact of the program is the improved perception of police by the population of pacified favelas. |
