Design of competency model for a business analyst role in one consulting company

Human resources, especially in today's dynamic time, are becoming an increasingly valuable asset for the organizations. Therefore a frequent turnover of employees represents quite a big problem for the organizations. This fact is apparent particularly within the employment of specialists. An example of such a job can be a business analyst, which is by the way a target graduate job of study program taught within the Department of Information Technologies (part of Faculty of Informatics and Statistics at University of Economics in Prague). This job is then carried out by the employees of a specialized department of one consulting company. The management of this department then believes that the application of so-called competency approach can help to make the work more efficient and thus, as a consequence, to eliminate the risk of staff leaving. The aim of this diploma thesis is to create and validate an expanded competency model for the role of business analyst in the given consulting company. The whole work is divided into five main chapters. Firstly the research of the relevant thematic and then the description of the methodological process of the entire competence creation model, including a detailed description of the application of the scientific method of Design Science Research, are provided. In the next part, after the introduction of work wider context, the outputs of the thesis are presented and subsequently validated and evaluated in the last chapter both in the context of the validation results and in the context of their potential practical use.
