| Abstract: | Cílem této práce je charakterizovat a zhodnotit ekonomické vztahy mezi dvěma netradičními spojenci, USA a Tchaj-wanem, od počátku tohoto století. Dobré vztahy se Spojenými státy byly od poloviny 20. století klíčovou podmínkou pro existenci Tchaj-wanu jako de facto nezávislého státu. Kromě popisu specifik těchto vztahů je využito komparace obou zemí a analýzy statistik vzájemného obchodu a informací o jejich ekonomické spolupráci. V rámci těch byl popsán vývoj ekonomik obou zemí a jejich zahraničního obchodu od roku 2000, a byly identifikovány příčiny klesajícího podílu vzájemného obchodu. Také byly dle názorů expertů na toto téma naznačeny možné scénáře budoucího vývoje těchto vztahů s ohledem na vztahy s Čínou a oslabující přítomnost USA v asijském regionu. Na rozdíl od jiných prací se tato zaměřuje především na ekonomické aspekty vzájemných vztahů USA a Tchaj-wanu. |

| Abstract: | The aim of this work is to characterize and assess the bilateral economic relations of two unorthodox allies, USA and Taiwan, in the 21st century. The good relationship of Taiwan with the United States has always been the necessary condition for the existence of Taiwan as a de facto independent state. Apart from a description of the specific aspects of this relationship, the author has made a comparison of the two economies and has analysed statistics and information on their bilateral trade and economic cooperation. In terms of these, this work provides an overview of the development of the two economies and their foreign trade since the year 2000, along with an analysis of the reasons for the decline in the share of their bilateral trade. This work also summarizes the possible scenarios for development of this bilateral relationship regarding the relations of both countries with China and the weakening influence of the United States in Asia. The asset of this work is that it focuses primarily on the economic aspects of the bilateral relationship between the United States and Taiwan. |
