| Abstract: | Jedním z Miléniových rozvojových cílů Organizace spojených národů byla snaha snížit počet lidí, kteří trpí hladem, o polovinu. Bakalářská práce zkoumá, zda byla tato snaha úspěšná na případové studii Nigérie. Teoretická část se zabývá problematikou hladu. Jsou v ní definovány základní pojmy a vysvětlena metodologie použitých indikátorů. Dále práce seznamuje s hlavními příčinami způsobující hlad a čtyřmi teoretickými přístupy, které přetrvávající hlad vysvětlují. Empirická část seznamuje s podmínkami implementace Miléniových rozvojových cílů v Nigérii a vyhodnocuje, do jaké míry byl cíl, zabývající se snížením hladu, naplněn. Na základě demografických údajů a ekonomické a politické situace Nigérie tato část také stanovuje hlavní příčiny přetrvávajícího hladu v zemi. |

| Abstract: | One of Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations was an effort to diminish a number of people suffering from hunger by its half. The bachelor thesis examines whether this effort was successful or not in the case study of Nigeria. The theoretical part is about the issue of hunger. It defines basic terms and it explains methodology of the indicators used. Further the thesis informs about main factors causing hunger and about four theoretical approaches which explain a reason of persisting hunger. The empirical part outlines conditions of implementation of the Millennium Development Goals in Nigeria and it evaluates to what extent the goal of hunger elimination was fulfilled. Based on demographic data and economic and political situation in Nigeria the chapter also states main causes of persisting hunger in the country. |
