| Abstract: | Práce přibližuje čtenáři téma diaspory, které je stále více aktuální i v českém kontextu. V obecné části se věnuje obecnému vymezení a rozlišení základních rovin vztahů, které mohou navazovat státy se svými diasporami, jsou vyjmenovány konkrétní nástroje a politiky České republiky týkající se české diaspory. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována emigraci po roce 1989. Praktická část prezentuje českou diasporu v Kanadě. Cílem je postihnout její hlavní rysy a v neposlední řadě, zkoumána je role jazyka, v našem případě českého jazyka (jakožto důležitého aspektu udržování vztahů se svým mateřským státem) včetně důvodů, proč by měl stát šíření českého jazyka v rámci diaspor podporovat. |

| Abstract: | This thesis presents the theme Diaspora, which nowadays becomes more and more relevant even in the Czech context. In the theoretical part, the definition of the basic areas of relations that the states can establish with their diaspora is presented, including specific tools and policies of the Czech Republic concerning the Czech Diaspora. Particular attention is paid to emigration after 1989. The practical part presents the Czech diaspora in Canada. The aim is to describe its main features and, last but not least, examine the role of the language, in our case the Czech language (as an important aspect of maintaining relations with its mother state), including the reasons why the state should promote propagation of the Czech language within the diaspora. |
