Abuse risks of public Wi-Fi networks

This bachelor's thesis looks into exploitability of public Wi-Fi networks attacks against a common user. The objective of the thesis is to evaluate which risks result from using public Wi-Fi networks and to propose ways how to prevent such risks. The principles of Wi-Fi networks and its architecture are described in the opening theoretical chapters, furthermore defined by their standard and used technologies. This thesis then briefly deals with the user's authentication encryption and legislative framework in the Czech Republic. The last theoretical part is a description of possible attacks which can be encountered in practice. The practical part of the thesis in a laboratory environment simulates real attacks, describes their consequences and ways to protect against these attacks. The last part of the thesis is a practical project of web presentation, which suggests the general public to be aware of the risks when using public Wi-Fi networks and how to prevent those risks based on the obtained conclusions.
