| Abstract: | Tato diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou letecké dopravy v Evropě od její liberalizace po současnost. Důsledkem tohoto procesu, který byl završen v roce 1997, bylo otevření trhu novým dopravcům, zvýšení produktivity, inovace služeb a snížení přepravních tarifů. Díky tomu se letecká doprava stala dostupnou většímu množství osob. Ceny letenek začaly klesat se vznikem nízkonákladových leteckých společností, které od liberalizace představují největší soupeře vlajkových dopravců. Pozornost je věnována změnám, kterými evropské vlajkové letecké společnosti prošly důsledkem deregulace letecké dopravy. Mezi ty nejvýraznější lze řadit vznik modelu Hub and Spoke, který dopravcům přinesl možnost úspor z hustoty provozu, tvorbu strategických aliancí, které umožnily sdílení letů, pozemního personálu, letištních salonků, zařízení údržby a prodejních kanceláří a fúze, díky kterým lze maximalizovat zisk a zvyšovat tržní podíl. Negativní dopady liberalizace zahrnují bankroty některých dopravců, způsobené prudkým nárůstem konkurence, přibývání zpožděných či zrušených letů vlivem převyšování letištních kapacit a zhoršující se vliv letecké dopravy na životní prostředí následkem neustále se zvyšujícího počtu letů. |

| Abstract: | This master's thesis seeks to analyze air transportation in Europe from its liberalization to the present. Thanks to this process, which was completed in 1997, the market opened to new carriers, productivity increased, services were innovated and airfares got lower. Consequently, air transportation became available to a larger number of people. The prices of airline tickets began to decrease after the emergence of the low-cost carriers that since the liberalization have been the biggest rivals of flag carriers. The objective is to analyze the changes that the European flag-carrying airlines went through after the deregulation of the air transportation. The most distinctive changes include the creation of the Hub and Spoke model that allowed carriers to exploit the economies of traffic density, the rise of strategic alliances which enabled airlines to share flights, ground handling personnel, airport lounges maintenance facilities and sales offices, and mergers that have helped to maximize profits and increase market shares. Some of the negative effects of liberalization include the bankruptcies of some carriers caused by a rapid growth of competition, an increased number of delayed and cancelled flights due to airport's capacities being exceeded and the negative environmental impact of air transportation caused by an ever-increasing number of flights. |
