Analysis and solution design for the selected part of business based on MS Power BI

This bachelor thesis follows up reporting tool called Microsoft Power BI within business practice and was created on the basis of a new project in company where I work as Business Intelligence Solution Analyst. The main goal of the thesis is to suggest and design a functional report for a customer using the environment of Microsoft Power BI. In order to realize designed proposal a complex analysis of the customer’s IT environment is required. IT environment includes customer’s individual source systems, current data storage solutions and currently used reporting tools. In terms of source systems, data quality is primarily monitored. To store and historize data we usually use data warehouse. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first one is theoretical and is dedicated to Business Intelligence components, among which we include data warehouses, analytical and reporting tools or dashboards. The second part deals with practice and is focused on definition of customer’s requirements and analysis of company’s IT environment ranging from source systems to reporting tools. Based on the results of undertaken analysis, a solution for customer’s needs is prepared. This may include adjustments for modifying current status or providing other necessary parts. The final conclusion of the thesis is then devoted to the report itself. In addition to designing a dashboard with test data and security for individual user groups, it also defines the sources for reporting and how these are implemented and updated.
