| Abstract: | Tato práce se zabývá vztahem mezi velikostí státního sektoru a subjektivním štěstím jeho obyvatel. V krátkosti shrnuje roli štěstí v ekonomické teorii, dále se práce snaží podchytit přístup teorie neoklasické syntézy, teorie veřejné volby a teorii rakouské školy k roli a vlivu státního sektoru a jeho jednání na společnost a následný dopad na subjektivní štěstí. Práce se dále zabývá následující otázkou: „Jsou státy s větším státním sektorem šťastnější?“. Za tímto účelem analyzuje data o subjektivním štěstí od World Gallup Poll v závislosti na vládních výdajích. Hypotéza práce je testována pomocí lineární regrese panelových dat z let 2004 až 2016. Výsledky analýzy nevedly k potvrzení hypotézy práce, že rostoucí vládní výdaje negativně ovlivňují subjektivní štěstí. |

| Abstract: | This thesis examines the relationship between the size of the state sector and subjective well-being of its population. It shortly sums up the role of happiness in economic theory and tries to capture the approach of the theory of neoclassical synthesis, the theory of public choice and the Austrian school theory about the role and influence of the state sector and its actions on society and the subsequent impact on subjective happiness. The thesis further deals with the following question: "Are states with a larger state sector happier?". For that purpose, it analyzes data on subjective happiness from World Gallup Poll and its interconnection with governmental expenditures. The hypothesis of work is verified by linear regression of panel data from 2004 to 2016. The results of the analysis do not confirm the hypothesis of work that rising government spending negatively affect subjective happiness. |
