| Abstract: | Diagnoses Related Group system is used worldwide and still evolving. With many advantages brings several threats. One of them is a high share of Cesarean sections on a total number of child deliveries. This operation has many consequences for the child and the mother. Therefore, it should be done only in necessary cases, but many studies suggest otherwise. This phenomenon can be observed in many countries including the Czech Republic. This thesis agrees with the statement that C-sections are overused and tries to prove that there is a significant number of C-section operations performed unnecessarily as a consequence of obstetrician’s utility maximizing behavior. |

| Abstract: | Diagnoses Related Group systém je nyní využíván v různých podobách v řadě států po celém světě. Přes řadu výhod a zlepšení přináší také několik rizik a nevýhod. Jednou z nich je vysoký podíl císařských řezů na celkovém množství porodů vykonaných na území České republiky. Tato operace má však nespočet důsledků jak pro dítě, tak i pro matku. Tudíž by měla být vykonávána pouze v nezbytném a odůvodněném případě. Tento fenomén se objevil v řadě států používajících DRG systém, včetně České republiky. Práce souhlasí s tvrzením, že dochází k nadužívání této operace a snaží se dokázat, že existuje značný počet císařských řezů, které byly vykonány neodůvodněně jako důsledek chování porodníků, kteří usilují o maximalizaci svého užitku. |
