Abstract: | This paper examines the question if the membership in eurozone has an impact on the level of wages. I suppose that the membership in eurozone has positive impact on the level of wages. Theoretical part contains theory of optimal currency area, which is followed by chapter of hypothesis of membership in eurozone. These chapters show that eurozone is not homogenous unit, is too diverse, thus eurozone is not the optimal currency area. Further the theory of efficiency wages is introduced, which is more suitable for reality. Empirical part is dedicated to the very analysis, at which method DID is used. The analysis was done on the Czech Republic and Slovakia between 1993 and 2016. The result of the analysis shows that the membership in eurozone appeared to be statistically insignificant variable. |
