Motivation of generation Y in selected job positions of chosen company in Ústecký region

This thesis deals with motivation of generation Y. The main goal is to formulate recommendations for optimization of motivational programme of chosen company based on findings of motivational specifications of future alumni belonging by their age to generation Y in the company’s area that are currently being educated in specific chemical and technological fields which makes them suitable candidates for key positions in the chosen company. The main means of fulfilling thusly laid out goal was quantitative research in the form of a survey. Based on these results, it was possible to evaluate hypotheses regarding motivation of the given generation that were laid out based on the carried out recherché in the opening part of this thesis, and furthermore, recommendations were presented for the company. Main finding that comes out of the research is that the company is generally prepared for the arrival of selected groups of workers. Nevertheless, it was recommended to raise wages or improve the package of benefits, because material factor of motivation are generally the most important for this generation. Furthermore, suggestions were formulated for improving the immaterial factors of motivation, such as raising the diversity of work assignments, support of a good work team and adjustments to the company’s culture etc. These suggestions could then contribute to better work motivation of current and future employees from this generation that occupy chemically and technologically focused positions.
