Operations Management in Textile Factory

The goal of this Bachelor Thesis is to identify the specifics of Operations management in a textile factory, by implementing Operations Management tools and Health and Safety Principles. The document begins with an introduction of the textile and clothing industry as one of the oldest in the world and emphasizes some main historical events relevant to the industry. Further, it focuses on the functional areas in the garment industry for it is the subject of analysis. The complexity of the processes but in the Cutting Department specifically, serves as an ideal basis for the analysis of the applicability of OM principles and tools. Operations Management is a crucial part of every organization and many tools and principles are used to assess different aspects of an organization. Therefore, the thesis firstly concentrates on defining the scope of Operations Management. Subsequently, the “Five Performance Objectives“ and several of the OM tools are applied to the cutting process. Last, the thesis assesses the risks related to the Cutting Department and it does so by using RPN analysis.
