| Abstract: | Analogová fotografie jako technická disciplína a společenský fenomén prošla uceleným vývojem - od počátečního objevu světlocitlivosti materiálů, přes rozvoj záznamových technik a zařízení, až po analýzu efektivní a dlouhodobé konzervace hmotných obrazových nosičů. V tomto kontextu digitální fotografie prochází teprve ranými stádii technologického rozvoje a kvalitativní možnosti její dlouhodobé archivace nejsou zřetelně definovány, byť fenomén digitalizace aktivně prostupuje napříč vědními obory i společností jako takovou, aniž by byly manifestovány stěžejní aspekty tohoto procesu, jako je adekvátní míra archivace vizuálních a audiovizuálních záznamů každodenně mapujících miliony životů, komprese dat apod. Práce si klade za cíl tyto klíčové oblasti rozpoznat analýzou společensko-kulturních trendů a aktuálních technologických a finančních omezení a použít tyto údaje pro závěrečné kritické zhodnocení společenského přínosu procesu digitalizace. Cílem práce je analyzovat dosavadní debaty na téma posun od analogové k digitální fotografii a popsat pozitiva a limity související s touto změnou. |

| Abstract: | Analog photography as a discipline and social phenomenom has evolved from the initial discovery of photosensitive substance, through recording techniques and devices, to the eventual analysis of efficient and long-term preservation of physical visual medium. In this context, digital photography is still undergoing only early stages of technological development and the qualitative ways of its long-term preservation are not yet clearly defined, even though digitalization pervades across scientific fields as well as society, without crucial aspects of this process being manifested. These aspects are for example appropriate preservation of visual and audiovisual recordings depicting millions of lives, data compression etc. The aim of this thesis is to identify the key areas mentioned above through an analysis of social-cultural trends and present technological and financial limits and use the analysis for concluding critical evaluation of social contribution of the digitalization process. The objective of this thesis is also to analyze existing discussion on the topic of the shift from analog to digital photography and to depict advantages and drawbacks associated with this change. |
